Artist Marie Karambis showcases wildlife, landscape, and nature scenes through the medium of Photography. In this exhibit, monochromatic images bring special focus to images that speak to her love of fine art. She is an artist embroiled in a series of transitions yet frequently finds joy and inspiration through photography. She believes that the more time one spends observing or caring for an animal, the more their personality becomes evident.
Animals communicate despite the absence of verbalization as we know it. We teach domestic animals to respond to our commands yet, we have difficulty deciphering their verbal cues. It seems only natural at times as we try to understand, that we extrapolate animal behaviors to that of humans in our search for commonality. They care for their young, they seek food, shelter, fight for survival, show fear and hostility. Animals have fun. They strive with brilliant displays to continue their lineage. They seek solitude and they try to find their "place" in this world that is a shared space.
Every artist can tell the story of how a piece was created. For Marie, that story is more complete when viewers share their reaction to her images and their interpretations or memories of the interactions they have had in the natural world.

When my kids grew up and moved on with their own lives, I was not only left with empty rooms, I was was left without a sense of purpose. Then I was gifted a camera!
Looking back I have been a creative all of my life. Yet, until recently, and simply put; I forgot! Who knew that middle age for me would bring crazy new adventures and a beautiful world of possibilities...
A little more about me: I am a mouthy environmentalist. I'm well on my way to hiking every National Park. I'm particularly fond of ice cream and mediterranean food. I love colorful and strangely patterned shoes. I cannot sing but I love to dance. I love kayaking and hiking but I cannot run. When I have my camera out I get lost for hours! I'm really into live music, small town festivals, and Indie Art fairs. With the love of my life and partner of 9 years, I plan on seeing as much of the world as humanly possible.
