Showcase, promote and sell your work alongside other teen artists! Free to participate. Ages 12-19. Deadline to apply: September 8, 2018
Youth Gallery Showcase - Saturday, September 22, 2018 at 5pm: The Downriver Council for the Arts’ (DCA) Youth Arts Council is hosting a one night only showcase of local teen artists and musicians to promote, exhibit and sell their work. There will be refreshments, live music, and an open art gallery. Perfect for the whole family to enjoy. Open to the public. FREE admission. To assist with this event the DCA has received a matching grant from the Michigan Council for Arts and Cultural Affairs New Leaders program, which focuses on the engagement, retention and mentoring of young people in Michigan through arts and culture.
5:00-9:00pm = Visual art on display from local teen artists in the main gallery
5:00-7:00pm = Solo music performances in the main gallery
7:00-9:00pm = Band performances in the theater
Visual Artists: We will have space in our main gallery for teen artists to display, sell and promote their artwork for free. You can choose to display and sell on a table or use our wall space and hang artwork. You are also welcome to bring in your own displays, such as: grid walls, tables, easels, etc. Each artist space is roughly 8' wide by 4' deep. Visual artists are asked to man their spot and they are welcome to sell art work, promote other events they're involved in, and network. We highly encourage artists to display multiple pieces and artists can split a table if they’d like. We have a very limited number of tables that we can offer on a 1st come 1st serve basis so please request this early. We will provide chairs.
Music Artists: We are providing an opportunity for teen solo musicians and bands to perform on the night of this showcase. Solo musicians will be performing in our main gallery from 5-7pm with a set duration for 15-30 minutes. Bands will be performing in our theater from 7-9pm with a set duration of at least 30 minutes. We can provide a table for swag and any other promotions you’d like to display.
