Anime Academy - Saturdays - Starts 02/05/22
Designed for fans of anime, manga, comics and cartoons. The anime art form, having originated in Japan in the early 1900s, is a uniquely stylized form of two- and three-dimensional illustration and animation. Teacher will lead lessons with step-by-step instruction. Students will learn essential drawing techniques as well as outlining and coloring to create a completed work of art. Develop the skills you need to make the anime and manga art you love!
Saturdays: 1pm-2pm
Suggested ages: 11 and up. Open to all skill levels.
Instructor: Trisha Schultz
Cost: $50 for 4-week session or $15 drop-in rate.
Session 2 dates: February 5, 19, 26 and March 12
(no class Feb. 12 or Mar. 5)
Bring pencils or markers and sketchbooks.
Registration online only for the 4-week session. Please stop in the office before class to pay for drop-ins. If we reach capacity, we may not offer drop-in.
Please note: If your child is enrolled in both Anime Academy and Cosplay Corner, they are welcome to stay in the arts center for the 30 minutes between classes.
Space is limited. Maximum of 12 students per session. You must agree to full COVID guidelines listed on the website. Be advised that we will be following all mandated covid restrictions as announced. We are asking all users of the arts center to follow safe social distancing measures. Hand sanitizer is available in public places throughout the building. If you are sick, please stay home. Fine print:
Adults are welcome to stay at the arts center during class time, but we request that you not participate in the class. Please be mindful that (especially during covid restricted times) we have a limited number of bodies allowed in a space. Also, our instructors are there to teach the children, and adults may be distracting to the group. Feel free to roam the building, visit our main floor gallery, lounge in the hallway, explore the auditorium or create art. Wifi is available as well as spaces for you to work.
It is the guardian’s/student’s responsibility to stay home if you are sick. If you have a fever, stay home. If someone in your house is sick, stay home. If you have allergies and can’t control sneezing, and cough please stay home. If you have been exposed or if you show signs of Covid-19, please stay home. If you miss a class, we will work with you on getting the instructions home to students, or possibly have an online option. If class is cancelled by the DCA or Executive Orders, we will refund your remaining classes.
Maintain 6 feet distance from person-to-person at all times. Facemasks are encouraged at the present time of publishing this event, however could be required if executive orders mandate them. Hand sanitizer is available for immediate use at the front entrance and entrance into each of our common areas. Parents please drop off and pick up your children outside when possible.
All students will be requested to use hand sanitizer as they enter the classroom common area. Please wash hands with soap and water for at least 30 seconds after touching metal surfaces, sneezing, coughing, blowing your nose or using the restroom. In the case of being diagnosed with Covid-19 or show symptoms, immediately notify the DCA by email at dc4arts@downriverarts.org.
