Exploring Art

Mondays: 4 weeks. Time: 10:00am-12:00pm. **NEW CLASS DATES: 7/22, 7/29, 8/5, 8/12

Class dates: 7/8, 7/15, 7/22, 7/29

This is an exciting exploratory fine art class incorporating a variety of mediums, art terminology, history and design. Students will work on different projects focusing on a number of mediums, such as painting, drawing, mixed media, sculpting and more. Artworks will be brought home as they are completed. Supplies are provided, just come dressed to get creative! All levels - beginner, intermediate or advanced.

Grades: K-5 (ages 6-11)

Cost: $100 pre-pay for 4-week session or drop-in for $25 per class.

Fridays: 4 weeks. Time: 10:00am-12:00pm. Class dates: 7/12, 7/19, 7/26, 8/2

Want to explore your imagination while learning and improving your painting skills? We will experiment with a variety of brushes, tools and painting mediums. Never painted? Do you have tons of practice? No worries, there is always room to grow your artistic skills and creative mind therefore we are accepting all skill levels! Class focuses around building confidence within each artist while improving craftsmanship, goal setting, painting skills and techniques. Can’t wait to see the students’ success and skills grow, space is limited, register now and don’t miss out! All supplies are provided, just come dressed to get creative! All levels - beginner, intermediate or advanced.

pop art and Graffiti and Comics, Oh My!

Mondays: 4 weeks. Time: 1:00pm-3:00pm. Class dates:  7/8, 7/15, 7/22, 7/29

Want to explore your creativity while learning some simplified methods to create awesome graffiti lettering and pop art images? This is the class for you! Class focuses around building confidence within each artist while improving craftsmanship, goal setting, lettering, and color theory techniques. Roy Litchenstien’s comic pop art will inspire us to embrace the simplicity of his work, focus on color theory and design successful compositions. Can’t wait to see the students’ success and skills grow, space is limited, register now and don’t miss out! All supplies are provided, just come dressed to get creative! All levels - beginner, intermediate or advanced.

Grades: 6-12 (ages 11-17)

Cost: $100 pre-pay for 4-week session or drop-in for $25 per class.

Fine print:

Adults are welcome to stay at the arts center during class time, but we request that you not participate in the class. Please be mindful that (especially during covid restricted times) we have a limited number of bodies allowed in a space. Also, our instructors are there to teach the children, and adults may be distracting to the group. Feel free to roam the building, visit our main floor gallery, lounge in the hallway, explore the auditorium or create art. Wifi is available as well as spaces for you to work.

It is the guardian’s/student’s responsibility to stay home if you are sick. If you have a fever, stay home. If someone in your house is sick, stay home. If you have allergies and can’t control sneezing, and cough please stay home. If you have been exposed or if you show signs of Covid-19, please stay home. If you miss a class, we will work with you on getting the instructions home to students, or possibly have an online option. If class is cancelled by the DCA or Executive Orders, we will refund your remaining classes.

Hand sanitizer is available for immediate use at the front entrance and entrance into each of our common areas. Parents please drop off and pick up your children outside when possible. Please wash hands with soap and water for at least 30 seconds after touching metal surfaces, sneezing, coughing, blowing your nose or using the restroom. In the case of being diagnosed with Covid-19 or show symptoms, immediately notify the DCA by email at dc4arts@downriverarts.org.
